This site was created to document, display, and share artifacts of my intellectual adventure into computing and software development.
The original JoeDevelops was a from-scratch, full-stack Django Web App. I painstakingly configured everything from host names, server security, URL formats, custom templates, bootstrap template integration and more. It involved a lot of cursing to myself, banging my head against the wall, and ultimately learning more than I care to describe in this blog post.
While my first try at doing MVC from scratch was very successful for my first go, it still looked amateurish, unpolished, and inconsistent. This is what lead me to install WordPress.
I learned a lot about web applications. One important lesson is that for a lot of simple tasks, like personal blogs, there are a lot of refined preexisting solutions. In the spirit of not reinventing the wheel , here is my use of the preexisting WordPress solution.
Hopefully the transition will allow me to focus on content while providing a clean and consistent interface to make it a more enjoyable experience.
